AVALON

Cerastium arvense a.k.a. 'Snow-on-the Mountain'

Ynys Witrin
Exchange the recent past
for all the gold of Avalon
on the crystal island,
the vitrinite reflectance in
sedimentary rock.
Incidental light returns
from a polished surface
on the river bed
of eternal life.

How are we going to come to terms with shale gas exploration and, unavoidably, the actual mining of it.
The impact will be catastrophic for many people's health, daily life and peace of mind. It is the impact on the beauty of the British landscape that worries me most. Plus the fact that the behaviour of the extraction personnel and the safety guards will be in the hands of the [ foreign?] companies making money out of it.
